Wikipedia

Michael Scott: "Wikipedia is the best thing ever. Anyone in the world can write anything they want about any subject, so you know you are getting the best possible information." -The Office

Last night a kid in my speech gave an entire that I now realize he stripped basically word for word from wikipedia. wikipedia can be useful, but I think it was a dumb move considering our proffesor cross-references our speech with wikipedia.

Boredom

Sometimes when there is nothing to do at work or in the library I am realize how thankful I am to at least have a computer, but I do not know any really interesting websites. Does anyone have any for me? Not that I do not like reading everyone's blog.

Nick are we playing hockey tomorrow?

Ankle Bender
Term used commonly by ice hockey players. Defines a person who is relatively new at skating or possesses very little skating ability. The person most often has very little balence and pronates at the ankles.
"Look at Olig trying to skate around on the ice, what an ankle bender!"

Cards v. Cubs

To ALL-

Tickets go on sale today for Cardinal v. Cubs tickets. Brittany and I were looking at July 12th. Anyone in? Anthony & Lauren? Mom, Dad, & Ang? Amy & Nick? It would be a nice weekend trip! No Cub fans allowed... JK

Question

Does anyone know why they call the things you put in your eye contacts?

Chicken Provel

The other night Brittany made Chicken Parmesan but substituted the parm with provel. It was delicious and the chicken was perfect! It was weird to see the provel cheese melt the orangish color that we see on Imo's pizza because as most of us know the cheese is white when bought from the grocery store. Anyway, the meal was delicious and as you can tell from these last two post I am a little hungry.

Guadalajara

When we visit Clear Lake we sometimes go to a Mexican restaurant called Cancun. At Cancun there is a dish called the guadalaraja. The first time I went there with Brittany's parents her dad warned of its deliciousness and of its size. "It could be a meal for two" he would say. So, the first time we went there we both (Randy and I) ordered the dish. I, of course, finished it and he had about half of it to go when we left. So, the second time we went to Cancun I did not order the guadalaraja and I made sure to stuff up on chips before the meal came so I would not seem like a pig. This was a mistake. The taco salad was still good, but it wasn't the guadalaraja. Randy and Barb went the other night and let me know that they both got and finished the guadalaraja (so he says) and that it was delicious. Now I am going to be craving it for awhile. Next time I visit Cancun you can guess what dish I will be getting and finishing.

If God had wanted us to play soccer he wouldn't have given us arms.

All Right...

Whoops. Before I wrote how I never see the Blues play I should have waited to see that the Blues were playing the Hawks tonight; so the game is on tv. 30 seconds in and there is already a fight! Go Blues!!

Sports

I was going to try and not blog about sports, but it is hard not to. After going home and being able to watch the Blues on TV and go to a game I realize how much I miss being able to watch them whenever I want. this means that I think next year I might have to get the NHL sports package. I am having horrible withdraws this week and I am tired of hearing how the Blues do through NHL.com or my dad; even though I do appreciate it dad. Even though people may make fun of me for liking a team who is in last place in their conference just wait a few years and then say something. And don't worry Blackhawk fans; you might make it to the playoffs this year, but Kane and Toews won't get you the cup. They might be highly skilled, but something about them tells me they won't win. They beat teams they are suppose to beat and thats it.

While on the subject of sports I might as well talk about baseball. Earlier this week a news report came out that traced HGH to Alex Rodrigeuz. Of course he took steroids and I am beginning to think that more of my childhood stars are also guilty. Kind of a bummer. And I know that McGwire and Sammy Sosa are credited with saving baseball, but the fact of the matter is that they still CHEATED.

Okay I know everyone who reads this does not care, but I just want to say Cubs suck and they will never win anything. They are the biggest joke team I have seen.

A real Workout

I remember playing Mike Tyson's Punch Out and the only physical workout I got was in my thumbs.
Now that there is such a thing as Wii Sports, and in particular Wii Boxing, video games have a whole new experience. Now I do not know if winning at Wii Boxing means flailing one's arms around like a mad women or using actual skill, but I could not beat Brittany at this particular game. It was very frustrating to lose, but I still got a workout in. I was sore today, but not nearly as sore as she was; probably something to do with the flailing.
Check out this article comparing Wii Boxing to the real thing

P.S. Just kidding about the flailing. Brittany showed tremendous skill. The feisty swings probably comes from being the youngest.

Rolls

I just want to make one thing clear. Some of you may think that I am obsessed with Swiss Cake Rolls. They are quite delicious by my standards, but I think I have only ACTUALLY purchased them twice in recent memory. But I do have a horrible memory so who knows. I doubt I buy more anytime soon so I do not begin to see the rolls form on my belly. I might be on a roll with this blogging.*

Lottery

Next week in my speech class we have to present 5 things we would do/buy if we had $200,000,000 available. The first thing that popped into my head was to travel, but I thought that was kind of vague. The 5 cities I would like to travel to would be:
American Cities:
1. San Francisco
2. Seattle
3. Boston
4. Not a city, but I would like to visit Yellowstone National Park
5. Also not a city, but I would like to visit the Grand Canyon.

Foreign Places:
1. Paris with Brittany
2. Go back to visit Germany i.e. Munich & Berlin; this could be substituted with Austria
3. Australia/New Zealand
4. Argentina or Brazil
5. Tokyo? Maybe...

Another thing I would buy are St. Louis Blues season tickets. Preferably a box at center ice with free amenities. I am not as much of a car person as others in my family, but I would imagine I would like a black BMW, Mercedes, or Lexus; any suggestions please let me know. Obviously, I forgot to mention, that the first thing I would use the money for would be to pay off my student loans. Maybe Obama will somehow contrive a scheme to eliminate all outstanding school loans. That would be something.

The Economy Stinks and C'mon Blues

Last Friday at work two employees were let go. Which makes it weird in the office considering the two that were let go kind of livened the place up a little. Now only 6 people are working in the office. Thats 25% of our workplace! I really didn't know we were in any financial trouble with how busy Tom (CEO) has been with pitches and what not. Luckily for me I still have a job.

Also, I went to go watch the Blues-Red Wings game at the Houndstooth last night with a buddy of mine. It was a good game and the Blues played very well, but ended up losing in shootouts. Manny didn't have the best game; he let up 3 goals in 8 shots.
